    The theme of indoor air quality in recent years has been repeatedly investigated and the results have not provided comforting data. Frequent use of air conditioning undoubtedly raises problems related to the hygiene of the air conditioning systems themselves, such as aeraulic ducts, fan coils, fan heaters and splitters – these happen to be the ideal terrain for the formation of dangerous microorganisms.

    Hotels, spas, camps, pools, hot tubs, bathing establishments and accommodation facilities in general can be exposed to major risks of air and water contamination and transmission of infectious diseasessuch as legionellosis, Sars, meningitis or that malaise commonly known as the Sick Building Syndrome.

    Sterimed, a company that has been dealing with Legionella risk control and management in healthcare, tourism-accommodation and community structures in general, has decided to tackle the problem in a global way by proposing a functional, microbiological and plant engineering assessment of these areas. Subsequently, we have a validated protocol for the active abatement of Legionella and other pathogens that may be present in water and air.
